Insurance
Our insurance policies in place are with Royal & Sun Alliance and cover; goods in transit, public liability, employers liability, and commercial vehicle. Our ‘Standard Liability’ insurance works on an extended liability basis where we have the insurance in place, and with that we are able to extend our liability to you as our customer. There are no additional charges for us to extend our insurance liability to customers and cover is provided up to a value of £50,000. If you require us to extend our liability to a value that is over £50,000, we will need to approach our insurers to guarantee that your goods will be covered to the value that you require. Please note for any insurance liability requirements over the threshold of £50,000, our quotation may need to be adjusted to account for the increased risk on our service. For us to extend our insurance liability we require customers to declare an overall value for the goods that are to be moved and/or stored. If no value is declared, all goods that are moved and/or stored by us will be carried on a ‘Limited Liability’ basis. This type of liability is very restrictive, so it is important that you declare an overall value to us, alternatively you may want to have your own insurance in place. (See our quote form and terms and conditions for further details).
In the event of damage being incurred to your goods/property, you will have 7 days in which to report any claim from receipt of the goods at the destination address, this can be extended at our discretion with a written request from the customer. In the event of a claim, we will endeavour to put the item(s) back to its/their former condition or pay you accordingly for your loss. Our goods in transit insurance policy is an indemnity policy, therefore it does not cover replacement of old items with new items, meaning fair wear and tear and age of the item is taken into account upon settlement of any claim.
Please note that items packed by you (the customer) into a box or package will not be covered against breakage under normal handling. The only case where our insurers may cover against damage to items packed by you (the customer), is when the item has been deemed to have been mishandled or dropped in any way, so that there is physical external damage to the box or package, and no matter how well it was packed the item would have been broken, and if that is the case, we will accept liability.
Jewellery will not be insured by us, therefore please ensure all jewellery is kept with your personal goods that you will carry.
