Commercial Storage
As a company you may have a situation whereby you need some additional space, and the only way to achieve this is to remove some furniture, files or machinery from the premises. Instead of disposing of these items, storage can be a cost effective and easy way of freeing up this space.
At F SMITH & SON, we can provide containerised storage, as well as paletised and free standing storage. So from single items to whole offices we can store your goods for a day, a week or indefinitely.
The first step in getting a quotation would be to arrange for one of our surveyors to call on you and discuss your requirements. We can offer full or part packing services as well as dismantling and reassembling of awkward/large furniture (items that cannot be removed from the office in one piece). We will tailor each quotation to suit the needs of your company. All goods will be containerised on-site, unless the item is too big for the container then it will be wrapped, labelled and stored free standing in our warehouse.
All items will be fully inventoried as they are loaded into each container. The condition of the goods will also be recorded. Once loading is complete, the containers will be labelled and a security seal fixed onto the door. The Seal number will be recorded on the inventory, so it can be cross referenced when the goods are retrieved at the end of the storage term. The foreman will ask you to sign as agreement that all goods are correctly listed and he/she will give you a copy of this inventory for your records.
Archive Storage
The growing demand on companies to keep more and more documents for both legal and personal reasons results in ever reducing office space. Finding new premises can be expensive and time consuming.
There are easier ways to free up valuable space. One is to have your archived files managed and stored off-site. This is where we can be of assistance. Our specialised containers are equipped with shelving, so that all boxes can be labelled and systematically filed away within the container. Each box will have its position in the container recorded, so that any one box can be retrieved with minimal fuss. This means that you will still have complete control over the files that are in our storage facility.
If it is required in order to avoid any disruption to the running of your business, we can supply, pack and remove archive boxes from your office at a convenient time with you. When the goods are brought into store, the container(s) are locked and security sealed so that the files can only be accessed when authorised by your office*. Our warehouse is fully enclosed, alarmed and covered by BT Redcare 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Service Offered
- A surveyor will come and visit you at your office and discuss with you all of your requirements
- A quotation will be sent to you, outlining our service recommendations based on the visit to your premises
- Once satisfied with the quotation, and when you have returned our acceptance form, dates will be agreed for the required work
- Archive boxes are collected from your office and brought back to our warehouse, to be filed away in our containers
- Inventories and box location/content are added to our system, and copies are sent to you
- Invoices are raised every four weeks for storage and are calculated based on the number of boxes in store

File Disposal
We can arrange for disposal/shredding of any documentation that is no longer required by your company. There is an additional cost for this service, but it will provide peace of mind that your confidential files do not end up in the wrong hands.
